This was one intense weekend. I love going to Prague, and this weekend proved its a great city in any season, hot or cold. Friday around four o’clock a group of seven girls (one canadian, one dutch, two americans, and three germans) boarded a bus to the train station. Rosemary and I had the honor of a drunk gentlemen from india standing by us. He talked the entire 20 minutes but I only understood about five minutes worth: he has been in germany for twenty-six years, he loves his girlfriend but she doesn’t like him because he drinks (this he repeated eight times) his name is Celix, he’s been to Amsterdam but I will spare you the details of what he did there. I wish I didn’t know! When we got to Dresden we bought our tickets and I was able to get a nice healthy sandwich from subway. I was looked down upon for eating “american food” but a girl has to get her nutrients somehow! We then boarded the train to Prague and Rosemary and I danced in the isle and made faces in the window to the other cars, we were laughing so hard we were on the ground! Finally at 9:30 we arrived and I saw Antkea, my Czech friend! The first place we went was the town square/starbucks (I went there a total of five times) and the rest of the group checked into their hostel while Anetka and I made our way to her apartment. I was able to take a nice shower and sleep in a bed with bedding, I have learned to be so thankful!
Saturday was filled with more starbucks, where Rosemary and I once again met two men from Poland who proudly told us all about the clubs and nightlife, despite our comment in the beginning about attending bible school. Later we went shopping and sight seeing-I was so happy to buy stuff at H&M, it’s fashionable AND cheap! We visited the clock tower and got lost trying to find the St. Charles Bridge; my memory has faded from the previous years of going there, but we found it! I was able to split from our big group for a little bit and I really enjoyed going through the city alone. Something about people watching and walking is very soothing to me! Afterward I met with Anetka and we hung out in the city for a little bit then decided to get a movie and popcorn to chill with. This morning I got up at nine (woohoooo!) and had some wonderful czech breakfast, sausage cheese on a baguette. Then it was time for us ywamers to leave so we headed to the bus station (much cheaper than going by train) and got back to the castle! It was a very fun weekend but it took a lot of energy and I am hoping to get some rest this coming weekend.
Tomorrow marks our second week of lecture, Dan Bauman is our speaker and the topic is “passion for Jesus.” Last week I learned so much and I can not wait to see what God has in store for us this week! We are joining the Marriage of the Arts school for lecture which I am also excited for, but because there are so many of them we will be outside in a tent. It is very cold here, add a dark tent and it is even worse! But we serve a powerful God and I am sure He will keep the cold away :) I will write again soon!
